SOMICA and Geometric ICA

چکیده
Geometric independent component analysis (ICA) uses a weight update rule that is very similar to the self-organizing map (SOM) learning rule in the case of a trivial neighborhood function. In this paper we use this fact and present a new geometric ICA algorithm that uses a SOM for learning. The separation qualiry is better in comparison to other geometric algorithms, but the computational cost is highe,: Furthermore. this new algorithm will pmvide insight in how to transfer theoretical results from the SOM area to geometric ICA.

SOMICA — An Application of Self-Organizing Maps to Geometric Independent Component Analysis
Guided by the principles of geometric independent component analysis (ICA), we present a new approach (SOMICA) to linear geometric ICA using a self-organizing map (SOM). We observe a considerable improvement in separation quality of different distributions, albeit at high computational costs. The SOMICA algorithm is therefore primarily interesting from a theoretical point of view bringing toget...
متن کاملLinear Geometric ICA: Fundamentals and Algorithms
Geometric algorithms for linear independent component analysis (ICA) have recently received some attention due to their pictorial description and their relative ease of implementation. The geometric approach to ICA was proposed first by Puntonet and Prieto (1995). We will reconsider geometric ICA in a theoretic framework showing that fixed points of geometric ICA fulfill a geometric convergence...
متن کاملHow to generalize geometric ICA to higher dimensions
Geometric algorithms for linear independent component analysis (ICA) have recently received some attention due to their pictorial description and their relative ease of implementation. The geometric approach to ICA has been proposed first by Puntonet and Prieto [6] in order to separate linear mixtures. One major drawback of geometric algorithms is, however, an exponentially rising number of sam...

We will reconsider geometric ICA in a solid theoretic framework showing that fixpoints of geometric ICA fulfill a so calle...
متن کاملA geometric algorithm for overcomplete linear ICA
Geometric algorithms for linear quadratic independent component analysis (ICA) have recently received some attention due to their pictorial description and their relative ease of implementation. The geometric approach to ICA has been proposed first by Puntonet and Prieto [1] [2] in order to separate linear mixtures. We generalize these algorithms to overcomplete cases with more sources than sen...
